Zambia's gateway town

Livingstone

Named after the explorer David Livingstone, this colonial-era town sits on the northern bank of the Zambezi and is the practical base for visiting the Falls.

Livingstone combines easy access to Victoria Falls with a quieter, more local feel than its counterpart across the border. Lodges along the river offer some of the most atmospheric stays in the region.

From here it is a short drive to Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, the airport, and onward connections to Chobe and the Okavango.
