Hideaways
Hideaways Bumbusi Wilderness Camp offers a unique and private safari experience within Hwange National Park. Situated in a reclaimed corner of the park amidst gorges, riverines, and hills, it's an ideal destination for safari enthusiasts, particularly those who enjoy exploring on foot. The camp is nestled beneath a lush forest of mahogany and jackalberry trees, providing a shady refuge for wildlife, especially elephants during the dry season. The camp's historical ruins and secluded game viewing opportunities distinguish it from other safari camps.
Accommodation consists of 7 chalets, thoughtfully designed to preserve the original stonework and infused with vibrant, warm hues and comforting textures that evoke the African bush. Each chalet accommodates two guests, with a family option available. The camp provides an intimate and unparalleled safari experience due to its remote location within an 80,000-hectare concession in the northern side of Hwange National Park.
Guests can delve into the rich 4000-year history of the area with a Bumbusi history tour, tracing roots from San hunter-gatherers to a well-preserved late farming period settlement. Beyond the historical tours and engaging walking safaris, game drives offer opportunities to observe diverse wildlife, from impalas to giraffes, with the nocturnal calls of lions, hyenas, and leopards adding to the thrill of the African bush.
